The SEAL's kit in Vietnam
The US military intervention in the Vietnam War was triggered by the Gulf of Tonkin incident, an alleged attack by North Vietnamese forces against US Navy ships operating in South-East Asia’s international waters.
VETERAN, BORN TO KILL
In 1962, President Kennedy ordered the formation of the elite SEALs as a group. Its name is an acronym for the different areas where they would pursue this brutal form of guerrilla warfare: SEa, Air and Land.
UNIFORMS
Throughout these years of combat the SEALs used different uniforms and camouflage: Duck Hunter, Tiger Stripe in its different versions (Gold, Plate, Tadpole ...) ERDL and on many occasions, individual customizations. For boots they normally used the classic Jungle Boots and Grey Canvas.
HEADGEAR
As far as headgear is concerned, they used a wide assortment of berets and boonie hats in the camouflages listed above, as well as kerchiefs worn pirate style or as sweatbands.
COMBAT EQUIPMENT
The combat kit based entirely on the M1956 canvas, as the conflict advanced this was integrated and mixed with the M1967 kit. On many occasions and when on river operations, they carried a UDT life jacket.
ACCESSORIES
Items like the Individual Survival Kit Hot-Wet Environment and albumin serum packs were part of their usual equipment.
