CYMA CM.708

What do Chris Kyle, Simo Häyhä, Carlos Hathcock and Vasili Záitsev have in common? Ok, this one is easy, they are four of the most famous snipers in history. Let's try another one, what does Novritsch, Bull Sniper, Silo Entertainment and Kickingmustang have in common? They are also snipers, but in this case in our hobby.

Real marksmen inspired those of airsoft, as real sniper rifles inspire airsoft manufacturers to offer new and original models, with a mix of features that make them very appealing to airsofters. Today we bring you a clear example, the CM.708.

ORIGINE

This sniper rifle belongs to a series of replicas that are the result of a collaboration between two large companies: CYMA and TaiwanGun. Each one contributing their experience, either as a replica manufacturer or by direct and continuous contact with the players.

BARREL

The barrel is one of the most important elements in the internal part equation that impact the accuracy in a sniper rifle. That is why we liked the fact that this model had an internal 450 mm long barrel, measuring 6.03 mm in diameter, a nice feature in a bolt sniper rifle.

CM.708 SERIES

This series of bolt sniper rifles focuses on the modularity of the replicas. They have also paid special attention to the development of a number of replicas that offered the highest level of precision and ergonomics for the shooter.

SPACERS

When firing, if the inner barrel is not attached, it can vibrate causing alterations in the flight of the ball. That is why in this model we will find two centres, of different diameter, that will fit perfectly to the outer barrel trying to immobilise the inner barrel when firing so that we notice an improvement in accuracy.

MATERIALS

Lightness is one of the outstanding features of the model. It is light, in first place, thanks to the polymer chassis that provides the necessary strength and at the same time reduces the weight of the model. And secondly, it does without rails and other features that add not only weight but extra volume that, as this replica shows, may be unnecessary.

MUZZLE

This muzzle unquestionably reminds us of the Tactical Muzzle Brake by MDT (Modular Driven Technologies), a Canadian company that designed the real one looking for a recoil reduction of almost 40% at the same time that improved speed and precision. However, in this airsoft replica it remains as a mere aesthetic feature since, as you know well, there is no deflagration. But it looks impressive and it really stands out.

MAGAZINE

The magazine that we under the bolt is a dummy and far from being a bad feature, it is actually something that we liked a lot since it enables it to carry a 34 BBs magazine, hidden in the handguard, just in front. So the model dispenses with the fin system that drags the BBs to the hop, and opts for a direct feeding system that avoids many issues. The only bad thing is that it only has an anchor point which is not very strong, so it tends to fall.

RAIL FOR SIGHT

At the top there is an 18-tooth Picatinny rail of 170 mm, more than enough to mount any sight, although not enough space to mount a scope cam, an AN/PEQ or any other complementary accessory.

STOCK

The stock is at the same time minimalist, with its skeletal design, and very complete, since we can regulate both the height of the cheek rest and the length with roulettes, and also the height of the recoil pad, although for that we need an Allen key. Although the stock’s tube is metallic, the stock combines polymer parts such as the cheek rest (and still very comfortable), such as metal and rubber parts, as is the case of the recoil pad that –in addition to being very comfortable– makes it non-slip.

A sniper looks for a precise replica that allows him to hit distant targets, but which, at the same time, is manoeuvrable enough to be able to make the most of it, moving quickly through the field. It is indeed a very good that, in this line, models like these are released from the collaboration of two heavyweights of our industry, offering players new and interesting options.
